Understand the dangers of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Electrostatic Overstress (EOS) – 1 Day Course

As portable equipment, such as mobile phones, laptops and tablets, are getting smaller, with more functions being added, the operation voltages for components are becoming much lower. In these circumstances, whether building or repairing such equipment, avoiding the dangers of ESD/EOS is essential.

ESD/EOS is a major cause of damage to electronics components. This course ensures staff understand how ESD is the unseen enemy, why it must be eliminated and what steps need to be taken to prevent catastrophe.

Course overview

People working in any electronics manufacturing organisation must be able to take appropriate steps to avoid static charge and this course explains:

  • What ESD/EOS is and how it can affect electronic components and products
  • The types of components that can be affected by an electro-static charge
  • What an ESD protected area is
  • What precautions must be taken to help eliminate the risk of damage from ESD/EOS

Assessments at the end of the areas covered will result in The Electronics Group certificate of success being awarded to candidates who achieve the required standard. Within this programme students will also be able to take an IPC course of study and receive the IPCESD Control DVD-54C certificate on successful completion of that course

Who should attend?

Anyone associated with manufacturing, production or repair of electronics equipment.

What is included?

All course materials are included together with a light lunch and all refreshments during the day.
